Your editorial of December 9 (“Punishing England for media insults”) dealt quite objectively with the awarding of the 2018 World Cup and the role the media may or may not have played in the process.

When ANR Robinson was Prime Minister, someone was apparently cheesed off by what he perceived as Robbie’s arrogant leadership style and asked him whether he thought that he was God. Robinson’s reply was that he was not God, but only God’s messenger.

The Ministry of Works and Transport has placed in the public domain for comments from all stakeholders and concerned citizens “Proposed draft regulations for establishing a regulatory framework for the efficient and safe operation for private hired vehicles in Trinidad and Tobago.” These...

Crime plan after crime plan fails to address the main driver of criminality in our country today. Our judiciary is broken. There is virtually no penalty for wrongdoing because justice is slow and is inaccessible to those who do not have money.

Everyone is bawling about the crime in this country—and so they should too. Innocent people are being shot by bandits seeking to invade their homes and steal their belongings, raping and killing along the way.

The people of this country are afflicted with a short memory span. Each time the PNM lost an election, it was because it had squandered our patrimony of two oil booms, on each occasion leaving the economy in shambles.

I have read my friend Steve Bennett’s pleas in your letters column for action to protect the breeding of thoroughbred racehorses in T&T. Whilst I hold Steve in the highest esteem, I disagree with him entirely on this matter.

This is another blatant example of the inconsistencies, contradictions and obfuscated information dissemination coming from this newly minted government.

The rank and file of the Police Service, particularly the senior officers, need to start performing. Resources are no longer an issue. The Government has provided and it is now up to the top ranks to make every officer perform.

For almost 200 years veterinary surgeons/veterinary practitioners/veterinarians have been required to register/secure a licence in order to practise their profession in T&T.
