Lethal weapons
Left: Yes, this tiny gun is real. It’s a .22 pistol that holds six bullets. Despite its size, it’s a lethal weapon. As the murder toll rose to 74 yesterday, police were staging an exhibition of dangerous weapons at the Police Barracks, St James, as part of activities marking the 80th anniversary of the Police Sports Club. Various units of the protective services are participating in the event, intended to demonstrate career options to young people.

Right: Students of Excel Primary School watch in awe as Cpl Pierre of the Community Police shows them an SLR seized from criminals. The exhibition continues this week, culminating with the Police Sports Day on Saturday.
