At this special one-day International, they will face a mighty force of West Indies cricket legends, who are as deft with a golf club as they are with a bat and ball.

Present captain Brian Lara will tee off alongside “the Master Blaster” Sir Vivian Richards; Desmond Haynes, Ian Bishop, Willie Rodriguez, Deryck Murray and Courtney Walsh, who have also confirmed their participation in the event.

The tourney is in aid of the Cotton Tree Foundation, which continuously looks at improving the life chances of members of the St Ann’s community and its neighbours.

Grown from an idea planted by a small group of friends, CTF’s branches have since extended to include pre-school programmes to enhance school and family literacy, a homework club as well as an information communication technology centre.

CTF patrons, President of T&T Prof George Maxwell Richards is also expected to attend the fun-filled day of activities.

With a Two ball Better ball Format and a Front and Back Nine start at 11 am, the day’s play is scheduled to last five hours. The tournament will comprise of 36 teams of two players each.

At the end of play, there will be a dinner and awards ceremony.

Included on the agenda is an auction of two cricket bats each signed by members of the West Indies and English cricket teams.
