Expect a noisy, spirited performance when Necessary Arts (NA) presents de sounds of life at the Central Bank Auditorium on May 29.

“De sounds of Life tells the story of two siblings who are forced to cope with the divorce of their parents,” wrote NA’s artistic director Naima Thompson in a release last week.

“We follow them through a journey of sound and observe the subliminal effect that life’s sounds have on them as they make choices.”

The educational theatre group’s last show was In the Blink of an Eye, staged at the Little Carib Theatre in December.

It too was an experimental combination of drama and sound; however it did not have a narrative form like this production promises. Like this production, the show was directed by Penelope Spencer.

“The performers have been challenged to keep an open mind throughout the experimental collective and in doing so have successfully developed a performance that will keep our audience in awe,” said Thompson.

“The stage performances are creatively complemented with snippets of video art and orchestrated life sounds from our choir.

All in all it will be an evening of experimental video and stage performances to depict what we so often take for granted—de sounds of life!”

Showtime is 8.30 pm. For ticket information call 627-8130.
