Opposition MP Ganga Singh sparked an uproar in Parliament yesterday when he claimed Housing Minister Dr Keith Rowley utilised material and labour from the Scarborough hospital construction site for use in a private housing development. Singh, taking up from where Opposition Leader Basdeo Panday left off in the budget debate on Wednesday when he linked Rowley to the hospital project, released copies of e-mails, photographs and documents from NH International, contractors for the hospital.
The disclosure prompted a call for an investigation which Prime Minister Patrick Manning assured would be undertaken. Rowley, in a subsequent news conference denied any wrongdoing and said any material sourced was paid for.
