IDance in the Breeze of my Spirit by Marielle Barrow.

Wandering Light II by Angelica Barrow.

Angelica and Marielle Barrow, the mother-daughter art team behind Marielle Studios, will present The Calling: An Art Affair on November 18.

The show, a combination of performance and visual art, is set to take place in their atelier in Glencoe.

Angelica and Marielle’s art work features “metaphorical and figurative mergers with dance and music,” they said in a press release sent by e-mail last week.

“The show will also highlight original musical works of young talented vocalists Ruth Osmond and Corinne Gray and musicians including Greg Faustin and the band Blue Culture, drummer Gary as well as members of the Trinity Dance Theatre Company.”

Bringing painting, dance and music together “is meant to celebrate the universality of the creative impulse and to promote the sharing of art as a necessary part of our human experience.”

The Barrows’ paintings in the exhibit feature “vibrant dancers and vivid landscapes in a rich Caribbean palette… they explore the capacity of light to dramatise and invigorate space and exploit the poetic potential of the art form.”

The exhibition runs from November 19-21, from 4.30-7.30 pm at 13 Gittensdale,

Glencoe (off La Horquette Valley Road). Marielle Studios Gallery may be contacted at 792-7932.
