The
Secondary Schools Football League is one of the most exciting sporting
events on the schools calendar of activities.
Its
that one time of year that students, football fans or not, rally
together to support their teams. The rivalry is usually intense
on and off the field. Potential football stars battle each other
on the field for bragging rights while vociferous fans, male and
female, uniformed and in mufti, beat drums and chant age-old battle
songs to spur their sides on.
The
air is usually electric with excitement and if nothing else, the
lime is a good one with eye candy galore for those needing a visual
break from the field.
The
2005 SSFL promises to live up to expectations. The first games have
provided the required fodder to keep supporters salivating for more.
In the games that have already been played, reigning champions St.
Anthonys College went down 3-2 to Mucurapo Senior Comprehensive
in a thrilling North zone game. In the South Naparima College registered
the biggest winning margin with an 8-1 clobbering over Mayaro.
