Illusion and success

“Know the truth and be set free from the illusion of success.”

—Philip G Rochford

Illusion

There is a view that life is an illusion. This stems from the fact that people see the same thing quite differently. The argument goes that if the events and items were factual and real all people would see the same thing. While people may see the same thing quite differently, it does not necessarily follow that life is an illusion.

Another view is that while life may not be an illusion, it is certainly so for the individual who is not seeing the truth of the matter. Thus, know the truth and be set free from the illusion you have about the matter.

It is the differing interpretations of the truth of the matter that accounts for, among other things, wars, different religions, strained relationships, crime and cultural biases. Each person has the choice to establish a construct of anything.

The truth

If the truth be told, life is so complex that no one person has all the answers, or even understands the magnificence and glory of the intricate elements of creation. Even medical science with its great scientific discoveries has not been able to understand and appreciate fully the functioning of the human body and to provide fully for its reaction to disease.

The significance

What then is the significance of this concept of illusion to your life? Do you really know what lies behind life? You come into this world in innocence, you grow up, you struggle, you achieve, you raise a family, you create great wealth, and then you die leaving everything behind. Are you following an illusion? You will have your own answer. To each his own.

Are you living an unconscious life? Are you aware of who you are, the way the world (material and spiritual) works and how you are to operate or exist within it? Many people are at this stage of indifference and thereby live a life of unconscious living that may also be called misrepresentation or illusion.

Of course the way you see the world is a function of the way you were programmed to see it. From a baby you were trained to believe certain things. These beliefs were taught by your parents, teachers, religious leaders, friends, television, cable and other media.

There is a lot more about the world than you know. Put another way, you have far more potential and internal power than you imagine.

It is a common belief that we are all connected through a spark of divinity in each of us. Yet you fear that if another wins, you lose.

A timeless truth is that when you shift from an obsession to survive into a compelling commitment to serve, you will experience magnificence in your life. You can generate your unique service by being on purpose and being true to yourself.

First rung

There are various steps on the ladder to reveal your true self and purpose. The first rung of the ladder is that of your vision. Your target or destination gives you something to aim at. When you establish your vision, you can then develop the road to lead you to the success you want.

Vision is your being able to see in the future what does not exist at present. It is mind sight, rather than eyesight. It is your ability to have creative insight. Focus on what you want, determine your strategic direction and have a monitoring system that keeps your vision in perspective.

The role of vision is to improve the quality of life of individuals, the family and the community. The values you espouse set the boundaries of your vision. Use these two principles to design the life you want. Activate them as you move from moment to moment.

The first principle is to acknowledge the divine creator and love him/her with all your heart. This principle flows naturally from gratitude. The creator responsible for all creation deserves to be honoured above all else.

The second principle is to love your brother/sister as yourself. This means that you need to love yourself first. Not a selfish love, but appreciation for your unique greatness. When you appreciate and love yourself then you can appreciate and love others.

It is the expression of the spark of divinity in you that creates your value and your contribution to yourself, your family and your community.

Develop your vision

When you have decided on your vision, the next step is to develop a system to bring your vision into reality. This is accomplished by developing a programme of goals consistent with your vision.

The research shows that the technology of personal goal-setting is a principal means of making your dreams come true. You can achieve whatever you rigorously set your mind on accomplishing, but this must be facilitated by the technology of goal-setting.

New action

Nothing need hold you back from using your unique talents to make your vision come true. Today, take one action step that will ensure you succeed in accessing your vision through your goals programme. I challenge you within the next 24 hours to simply write down one goal in one of the areas of your life that you wish to achieve.

Write down the goal, be specific, set a time limit by which it is to be accomplished. If the goal is to be accomplished in a period in excess of six months, define what part(s) of that goal must be accomplished in the next six months. Be prepared to focus your resources to accomplish it and you will enjoy the benefits, and be well on your way to attain your vision.

You can assist in the formulation of your vision by the following:

Establish what is your passion.

Check whether attainment of your desire will give you joy.

Your vision must be expansive enough to excite you.

Ensure that you have powerful reasons for pursuing your vision.
