Personal Coaching - therapy of the future

“Coaching is not only for athletes, it is the therapy of the future.”

—Philip G Rochford

What’s missing

Coaching is not only for athletes, it is the therapy of the future. Life has many challenges. You may be handling life quite well but some small thing is nagging at you. You feel that there is something missing in some area of your life and perhaps you cannot quite determine what or why you are uncomfortable.

You might not be fully satisfied with your career and finances. Some important relationship may need to be improved.

Your spiritual or religious outreach is cloudy.

You may need to be more serious about taking care of your health and exercise programmes.

Your personal development is at a standstill.

Your re-creation is non-existent. You are human so you cannot expect to be in full control of all these areas of your life.

This is where personal coaching plays an important role in your success.

Importance of a coach

You benefit directly from the experience of someone who has traveled the road before. You get the benefit of your coach’s successes and you are alerted to traps and difficulties that the coach has directly or indirectly previously experienced.

Thus, you are given the option to avoid those mistakes. Remember that a fool profits from his/her own mistakes but a wise person profits from the mistakes of others.

Role of a coach

What in fact does a coach do to help you? A coach is a source of critical relevant information; provides a cradle of wisdom; identifies and encourages growth of your specific skills; gives you needed feedback on how you are doing; is your dedicated support; functions as a reliable sounding board for your hopes, plans and fears.

The coach brings to the surface, answers to your problems that you already have inside of you.

Reasons to have a coach

Take you on your journey of success and balance in your life.

You wish to change something in your life. It may relate to your finances, your relationships, your career, your health, your walk with God, your personal development, or some other significant aspect of your life.

You want to move from where you are now to somewhere else.

You invest in yourself and your future.

You clarify your own needs.

You decide what you want, when you want it, how you will achieve it and how much you are prepared to commit to its attainment.

There is privacy, confidentiality and coaching hours to suit your convenience, with a focus on the specific needs that you personally identify and desire.

You develop strategies to overcome obstacles in your path

Establish balance in both professional and personal life

Define and align your life with your personal purpose and vision

Connect to your strengths and inner resources to achieve maximum achievement, fulfillment, and success

The coaching option

Coaching is a good option if you want more success, fulfillment and happiness in your life.

Coaching works because it brings out your best. A coach understands that you have the answers and s/he is trained to bring them out of you.

The technology that made coaching effective in sports is now used in all areas of life.

1. Coaching is a technology that generates results quickly because the coach has the same success objectives as you.

2. Coaching addresses your whole person—body mind and spirit

3. Coaching provides new perspectives and proven solutions.

4. Coaching is a structured process and system that can be used with ease for breakthrough results.

5. Coaching eventually becomes an enjoyable experience for the person being coached. Initially to break old habits to get a new life may be challenging but the rewards are tremendous.

Your reality check

You may be still wondering whether personal coaching is applicable to you. Consider if you fit into any of these categories:

(1) Your life feels unbalanced, as though you are putting a lot of time and energy into the things that are not really of top importance to you.

(2) You are already successful, yet feel that there should be more to life.

(3) You are in the midst of a major life transition with no signposts or trails to guide you.

(4) You are facing important choices that are difficult to make.

(5) You are working at a job that makes you feel miserable and unfulfilled.

(6) You are unable to act and speak according to your true values and beliefs.

(7) You sometimes feel that no one cares for you and you have need for a confidant.

(8) When you have an exciting idea, most of the people you share it with tend to be negative and discourage your enthusiasm.

(9) You definitely feel that you are in a rut.

Take the plunge if you feel trapped in any of these difficult conditions and talk with a coach, and I assure you that it would be helpful. You may be able to solve these problems on your own, but if you can’t, or if you want to deal with them more quickly than you might on your own, a coach may be the person to help you.

A friend or family member can be your coach provided he or she is trained in the coaching process, have no hidden agenda and can be impartial in your situation.

My own coaches

My life has been full and successful because I have used coaches in areas where I was weak. A coach must also be subject to coaching if he wants to grow and be successful.

It is interesting that since normal retirement I have been coached by some of the best coaches in the international personal development industry—Philip Humbert, Glen Dietzel, Mike Litman and Rod Moore.

My latest coaching by renowned coach, Scott Armstrong, is to re-brand myself, since I am mainly known for commercial bank pioneering.

Coaching sessions take you on your life’s journey of success and balance. Give me a call and let’s check it out.
