A Trinidadian resident in the United States was kidnapped last night, a week after he returned home on vacation.

The victim was identified as Balram “Dalo” Maraj, 61, of Shandy Lane, El Socorro.

According to police reports, Maraj was snatched while liming at the Samaan Tree Bar in Aranguez around 7.30 pm.

A man reportedly walked up to him, pointed a gun at him and told him, “‘You is the man we looking for, come with me.’”

He followed the man outside and was bundled into a black car, which then sped off.

A team of investigators, headed by Sgt Abraham, Cpl Bernard, Ramjit and PCs Holman and McMillan, visited the scene and interviewed the victim’s wife.

Barataria CID is investigating.

Maraj was the 34th person kidnapped so far this year. Of this figure, 13 abductions were for ransom.

Two businessmen who had been in the hands of abductors, Davan Bharratsingh and Brian Bachan , were yesterday back with their relatives. (DR)
