TRAFFIC Branch police have recorded two more road deaths, after two men were killed in a smash-up in Tunapuna on Tuesday night.

The victims were identified as Khemraj Chadalal of Dam Road, Longdenville, Chaguanas, and Anil Ali.

Their deaths have pushed road fatalities to 42.

According to police reports, at around 9.30, Chadalal and Ali were occupants of a Lancer heading west along Eastern Main Road, near Moosai’s Hardware.

Investigators said they were told that Chadalal attempted to overtake a car heading in the same direction, but collided with a maxi taxi heading east. They died on the spot.

Police and the district medical officer conducted investigations.

Firemen had to cut the mangled car to remove the bodies, which were later removed to the mortuary.

Investigations are continuing.
