Pastor Clive Dottin

The moment has arrived

Paul G Stolz states that helplessness is “the cancer of human endeavour.” Martin Selegman had defined helplessness as the belief “that what you do does not matter.” He calls it a crisis of insignificance.

Stolz concludes that those who lack control have weaker health, a greater tendency toward depression, and are more likely to become violent. He believes that helplessness is the antithesis of empowerment.

There are some who doubt that this can be our finest hour. They complain about expanding corruption in the Police Service; they are convinced that the hierarchy in the police is imprisoned in the den of denial. There are those who have performed an analysis of the paralysis and their conclusion is that there is a link between some politicians and the mafia.

There are those who feel that while it is dangerous to be alive, it is just as dangerous to be dead. Citizens are robbing and plundering the dead as if they were followers of Hitler.

People are very sceptical about the initiations produced by the Ministry of National Insecurity. They are crying out for consistency and honesty. If Howard Chin Lee was bad then Martin Joseph is worse.

What is happening to scores of young girls in our nation? Imagine, they are driving out with horrific, blood-sucking monsters, enjoying the air-condition comfort that blood money produced.

Then these girls bring home a stack of $100 bills, and their parents accept the money and even quarrel for more. In other words, the parents have turned their homes into a “prostitution-production establishment.”

When will we ever learn? We do not even need to ask the question: where have all the flowers gone? By now, we must know. Some have skipped the country and gone to America, leaving granny to take care of rebellious children who hate their parents.

Where have all the flowers gone? Some are in hospital, afflicted with Aids, hoping for a miracle. They are dreaming about the B-14 Sentra, but when they awake, the only ride they could afford is a B-zero wheelchair.

Some are slaves in the headquarters of the mafia. In fact, some are religious slaves who dare not complain. Some have gone to the couch of the shrink—depressed and tortured by the turn of events that a million Prozac tablets cannot reverse.

Some have been kidnapped and allowed to go home on weekends with the advice that they should keep “their blinking mouth shut.” Failure to follow this tyrannical advice would result in a flood of bullets to the head, the heart, the back.

Think about the nine-year-old who has blessed about 28 men with Aids, including a 71-year-old man caught in the act. Now, do not take this lightly. Do not even laugh. Well, perhaps, you could cry before you laugh. Most of the villagers are not 71. In fact, some are young and still very very sexually active. You could image the spiralling effect of this monumental tragedy. Men are waiting in line to get Aids. May they rest in pieces.

Think about the assassination of Chitram Ramlogan. This man was hijacked before and left for dead in the trunk of his car. He survived and continued working to make money for his five-year-old cerebral palsy-afflicted son. He loved his son, bought special shoes for the boy and even went to Miami to get a special “walker” for the boy.

When I saw the boy on television in the arms of his grieving mother, I exploded with grief and anger. These finger-licking, callous, cannibalistic crocodiles have deprived Anthony Ramlogan of a father. Hear this cry, “I want to live. My boy. Help me please.”

These Satans that make this Government look like a bunch of uncaring, incompetent infants have sparked fear in the hearts of the majority of citizens where crime is no longer a problem but a solution.

Fr Gerry Pantin is correct on the issue of hating, hurting children. But I do not agree that complacency is the major issue with the adult population. I do not believe that we have a complacent population but an intimidated population.

Watch something: do you see the reaction when there is the announcement of a joint police-army patrol? Do you see the reaction when the Government announces that more officers will be sent to the crime-infested areas? There is an instant rebellion. Why?

People start to ask for more jobs, and less police. Why? Please tell me why! People are scared of the police, because they believe that many of them are in the back pocket of the criminal dens. Citizens will not give them information, because they know that the cops put on their turbo-charge, breaking Justin Gatlin’s Olympic record and sell the information to the criminals.

Think about a headless corpse, because the head of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad resigned. Now the squad is going to central. This forces me to remember the case involving a man who was gunned down in Toco. Residents claimed that the man knew too much about the men in blue and grey.

I am forced to remember about the marked money discovered in a leading bank in Port-of-Spain. Father and son brought kidnapping money to the bank. Consequently, when people tell about the brilliance of the criminals and how cunning they are, I laugh and then get serious. That is absolute hogwash and pathetic stupidity.

There is an alliance between corrupt cops, conniving politicians, greedy lawyers, brutal bankers and businessmen that makes cracking the mafia a human impossibility. Unless there are human beings who are saturated with the power of the Holy Ghost.

If the picture of handicapped Anthony Ramlogan does not move us, if the tears of mothers and children who have to find hundreds of thousands of dollars to satisfy the bloodthirsty kidnappers cannot produce a national outrage, then we are ripe for the fires of hell.

I read the letter to the editor, and many people are crying out to the Government to bring in Scotland Yard and the FBI. There is one small problem, however. When these foreign agencies enter this country, who will guide them? Who will provide the information?

This is where we are going to jump from the frying pan into the fire! Because “himself” will not be the catalyst to bring “himself” to justice. No, a 100 times no! So, we have to launch a concerted attack before mercenaries enter this country, or US or British troopers.

But something has got to give and something will give. And tormenting the judiciary and humiliating the Chief Justice will not help in the battle against crime. Leaking information in the media will not help.

We must not forget this child: Anthony Ramlogan, and of course his mother. We could only imagine how the father felt, as his life was slipping away. O God, save this nation!

Killers and kidnappers, they must be brought to justice. Blue-collar criminals and white-collar criminals. Even blue and grey criminals must be jailed. O God! Save this nation.

Members of CUP, Courage Unlimited Please, get ready for action. The real test is just around the corner!
