As this country prepares itself for developed nation status by the year 2020, the face of the food industry is getting another boost as two major international brands are set to make their entry into the T&T market.

The first is Mrs Fields Cookies which has tickled palates in the United States for more than 20 years while the other is Pretzel Time, which has been sweeping the health food market for many years.

Kurtis Rudd, marketing manager of the local franchise holders for both brands, Prestige Holdings, said that all arrangements are now in place for the introduction of the two products by the end of June.

He disclosed that initially, they will be located at West Mall and at MovieTowne.

Rudd indicated that Prestige Holdings, which also operates KFC, Pizza Hut, TGI Fridays and TCBY, is very excited about the new products which he is convinced are well-suited for the local market.

Mrs Fields Cookies began operations in California over 20 years ago and the name quickly became associated with quality, fresh-baked cookies in a retail setting. From one small store to an internationally recognised brand, Mrs Fields Cookies have won acclaim as the world’s premier chain of cookie stores.

When launched in the local market, in addition to the signature cookies and brownies, consumers will also be able to enjoy Mrs Fields muffins, bagels, croissants and large cookie cakes.

Pretzel Time, meanwhile, which started in the specialty bakery industry in 1991 with a single store in Connecticut, USA, is a warm, health snack alternative that is fun to eat.

Pretzel Time products can now be found at over 300 locations across the United States and Canada.

At West Mall, consumers will have a choice of a wide range of pretzel products, including Pizza pretzels, Pretzel dogs and Ham and Cheese pretzels.
