KELSON FIGARO, a member of the Royalians and a “Player of the Year” award recipient for the past two season in the T&T Rugby Football Union, has been dropped from the senior training squad.

Figaro is among nine players cut from the original sqaud of 48 who began preparations for the Southern Caribbean Rugby World Championship qualifier over a month ago.

The one -week tournament, which also involves Barbados, St Lucia and host Guyana, is carded for August 7—14.

The winner will come up against Bahamas for a berth in the second round, which comprises Canada and USA.

Bahamas upstaged pre-tournament favourites Bermuda and Cayman Islands to capture the North Caribbean title, in front of an enthusiastic home crowd recently.

The T&T squad will continue to train on every Monday and Wednesday at Carib ground, Queen’s Park Savannah, from 5 pm under coach Rhett Chee Ping.

Adam Frederick, Sean O’Farrell, Maurice Valere and Curtis Nero will be assisting Chee Ping
