Mavis John will perform at the Little Carib Theatre on Saturday.

The Little Carib Theatre plans to hold a fund-raising drive in celebration of founder Beryl McBurnie this weekend, the theatre’s management said in a press release.

Come tomorrow the theme is Dance Trinidad Dance.

“This is a glowing tribute to the grand lady of dance. We are going to be seeing performances by the Astor Johnson Reporatary Dance Co, Shiv Shakti Dancers, Malik Folk Performers, the Arawak Dance Group under Torrence Mohammed, Metamorphosis Dance Theatre, the La Chapelle Dancers, Sat and Mondira Balkaransingh and also a performance by Dave Williams,” according to a press release

On Saturday the Little Carib will host a children’s show featuring the Lilliput Children’s Theatre and Necessary Arts. This show is free and runs from 1.30 to 3.30 pm.

Fund-raising continues Saturday night with women in the arts Mavis John, Eintou Springer, Cecilia Salazar and Mairoon Ali.

Special guest artistes 3Canal and Ray Holman and friends are also expected to perform.

On Sunday the celebration wraps up with Pan on White Street, featuring BWIA Invaders and PCS Nitrogen Starlift. “These two bands were closely associated with the Carib,” the release said. Admission to this last event, which starts at 5 pm, is free.

Tickets for tomorrow and Saturday are $100 each and are available at the Little Carib. For information call 622-4644 or 683-1694.

All proceeds go to the restoration of the Little Carib Theatre.
