Derron Attz has been quietly making his name known in the local fashion industry. Owner of the San Fernando-based Simpli Smooth productions, he has been designing intermittently for the past 11 years.

Franchise holder of the Miss City of San Fernando, Miss South Mature pageant T&T and Mr San Fernando, Attz decided to design his own line of clothing out of frustration trying to get clothes from up and coming designers for his shows and for the clients for whom he works as a stylist.

His line, Caribbean Couture, is designed for people who are confident and bold.

“I try to put some of the Caribbean element in my clothing and that’s what super ignites it,” he said.

Caribbean Couture is a fusion of European styles in Caribbean colours. The line, he said, got raves at two fund-raising fashion shows held over the Easter weekend in St Lucia and Grenada.

Attz was the only T&T representative at the shows which featured designers from six Caribbean countries. The clothing was worn by models from Sri Lanka, Nigeria, Sudan, Grenada and Barbados.
