T&T sprinter Marc Burns just missed out on a top-three finish yesterday, placing fourth in the men’s 100 metres dash at the Exxon Mobil Bislett Games in Oslo, Norway.

Burns, a bronze medallist at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia earlier this year, hit the tape in 10.14 seconds.

Clinching the gold medal was joint world record holder Asafa Powell of Jamaica. His win was timed at 9.98 secs. Shawn Crawford copped the silver medal (10.02), with Marcus Brunson bagging the bronze (10.06).

Earlier in the day, Burns won his qualifying heat in 10.11 secs. Powell was the fastest qualifier after clocking 9.96 secs in qualifying Heat No1, while Crawford was the second fastest with his 10.01 and Brunson third (10.03).

In the final, Burns was not able to better his performance in the qualifying round, however, and had to settle for fourth spot.
