The 26-year-old nephew of House Speaker Barry Sinanan is the latest road fatality. Matthew Sinanan, of Norman Tang Street, Vistabella, died at around midnight on Saturday after he lost control of his car and slammed into a lightpole on the Solomon Hochoy Highway, near Mid Centre Mall, Chaguanas.

Police say Sinanan was proceeding north along the highway when he picked up a skid and slammed into a light pole.

He was the son of prominent South doctor Joel Sinanan.

Dr Sinanan is also the owner of Sinanan Drugs and former vice-chairman of the South West Regional Health Authority.

Relatives refused to speak to the media yesterday.

PC Deoraj of the Chaguanas CID is continuing investigations.

In an unrelated accident, police are continuing investigations into the death of United States resident Renaldo Hargrave who died in a hit-and-run on Ariapita Avenue, Woodbrook.

Police said, Hargrave, 68, was crossing in front of a bar at around 9 pm on Friday when he was hit by the car which reportedly did not stop.

And Traffic Branch officers are also probing the circumstances under which Ricky Mohammed, 55, was knocked down and killed.

Reports said Mohammed was hit at around 7 pm on Friday while crossing Beetham Highway.
