A Customs officer who allegedly broke into his neighbour’s bathroom, pinched her and then ran away has been charged with indecent assault.

The charge was laid on Friday, four days after the sexual assault allegedly occurred.

Police said the officer, of South Oropouche, allegedly broke into his neighbour’s bathroom while she was bathing and pinched her on her breasts.

The terrified woman called out to her husband.

The suspect fled the scene but was subsequently detained by police.

On Friday, officers were given directives by Director of Public Prosecutions Geoffrey Henderson to charge the 35-year-old suspect.

PC Bridgemohan laid the charge.

The accused appeared before Siparia Magistrate Maria Busby Earle-Caddle and pleaded not guilty to the charge.

He was granted bail.

The matter was adjourned to January 18.
