British Airways ended the year on a high note with special tribute being paid to travel agents in T&T.

On December 6, the airline hosted 15 of the country’s top revenue producing travel agents at a Christmas Recognition Awards Luncheon held at Melange Restaurant, Ariapita Avenue, Port-of-Spain.

Lazzari and Sampson Travel Service was the first place winner for Top Revenue Performance.

Other winners included Superb Travel Service, Global Travel Service and First Class Travel Service.

The awards function is in keeping with British Airways’ commitment to the travel industry in T&T and internationally.

BA recently announced that it will be starting its service from Port-of-Spain to London Gatwick from March 28, 2007.

The airline has also signed a code share agreement with Caribbean Airlines.

At Melange, the mood was definitely Christmas as the travel agents and BA officials celebrated the successes of the past year.

The airline’s district manager for T&T Marcelle Joseph thanked the travel agents for their support to the airline over the years.

She told them, “In this dynamic and changing airline industry, you are a crucial link between the airline and our valued customers—the travelling public. British Airways truly appreciates the work you do.”

Joseph pointed to the role of the travel agent to make the process of going on a trip whether for work or pleasure a stress-free and memorable experience.

She added, “It’s not only about booking tickets and searching for affordable prices, but also personalising their services for the individual clients.”

According to Joseph, “The job of the travel agent has grown and adapted to reflect the changes within the travel industry, and to reflect the difference in the way people think about travel.”

Joseph promised agents that the airline will continue to partner with them in servicing the customer.
