A FRESH summons is expected to be issued for Housing Development Corporation managing director Noel Garcia to appear in the Port-of-Spain Magistrates Court to answer charges of house breaking and larceny brought privately by an evicted tenant.

Naushad Ali filed criminal proceedings against Garcia, after Ali was evicted of his Piccadilly Street, Port-of-Spain, apartment in January as he was deemed to be an illegal tenant by the HDC.

He claimed his apartment was broken into by bailiffs and the police, acting for the HDC, and personal and household items went missing.

When the matter was called in the Second Court, Garcia was not present and Magistrate Christine Murray indicated that there was no service of the summons issued to him.

She ordered a fresh summons to be served and adjourned the matter to June 28. (JL)
