Tuesday’s opening match between Police and Fire in the Championships Division of the All Sectors Netball League was set to be intense from the first pass.

Fans at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Arena in Tacarigua were kept at the edge of their seats throughout the entire match and in the end it seems almost justified that the both teams would finish with same score of 42.

The first session was tied at 11 but Fire pushed ahead in the second session to earn a 26-20 lead at the half.

Fire remained out front in third but the policewomen chipped away at their deficit to only trail by two (34-32) goals, going in to the final session.

The grey and blue unit went on to outscore its opponent 10-8 to tie the score, and share the win.

Police elite shooter Donna Elise Charles did not disappoint leading all shooters with 31 goals off 38 tries.

The main shooter for the firewomen was goal-shooter Janelle Barker. She missed only four attempts in scoring her 16 goals.

In other match, Defence Force Y team was no match for its X team as it went under 58-29.

Anastasia Wilson was on fire, connecting 52 goals from 60 attempts, for the winners.
