Are you comfortable with the go-ahead for a smelter in La Brea?

Prince of Peace:

No smelter in La Brea—not a good idea.

ybonnell:

No. No. No.

Philip Ayoung-Chee:

Third world “politicians” do things that may glorify themselves during their lifetime and nothing for the future. The environmental destruction that will take place is not going to happen during the lifetime of the present political administration. So who cares? We have money, so spend and waste it. We have oil and gas, so waste it. I hope that the Environmental Management Authority will identify and name the location where in the US the toxic waste products will be shipped for processing.

L Edwards:

I am very upset by the determination of this government to develop at all costs. There seems to be no consideration for the health of the people living in the immediate environment. In addition, it seems clear that studies done in Australia and in Canada on smelters and their effects are being totally disregarded.

rhanief:

A big fat NO.

JOKERISW:

No—most categorically no.

reshmi1:

No is our opinion. I was born and grew up in La Brea and surrounding areas. However, by giving him (the Prime Minister) power by voting he is now rewarding us by conveying that our opinion counts for nothing. I suggest he should relocate and live amongst the people and the smelter plant if he decides to go ahead with his plans. We would love to have him.

georgieyo:

Not at all.

lcelestin9071:

Yes. One cannot stop progress.

phillipse:

No! I am not comfortable with the smelter plant, it is a health hazard for humans, animals, and fish. It will also produce acid rain, and do irreversible damage to the environment. Trinidad is a very small island and should not accommodate such a plant where people will be living close to the plant. To have the plant built is insanity, and total disregard for the health and well being of the people of T&T.

emohan:

No smelter. Not only does our government defame and kill our once-beautiful country by destroying it with the unspeakable crimes that it has allowed to fester and rampage, but now it is seeking to further sink our island by destroying its quality of “greenhouse” standards and beauty with ignorance and greed.

Francis & Muriel:

No way.
