Do you have confidence in the judicial system in T&T? Why, or why not?

kfana:

I do not trust a system where people that have been convicted get to go free after a number of years. It’s ridiculous and a disgrace.

JOKERISW:

No, not under the PNM character.

BAPTIMICHE:

NO. It is very clear that the system has no substance anymore. When the DPP and the AG, and now the Chief Magistrate can make such serious allegations against the CJ even though not proven, the very fact that they thought it proper to do is is very worrying indeed.

phillipse:

I have no confidence in the judicial system because they take too long to decide a case and when they do, in most cases justice is not served—the  person either gets off, or gets a very light sentence, while the victim suffers for the rest of his/her life. There is never any victim impact statement.  The criminals have more rights than the victims.

felamco:

From what I have reading, no. Too much political interference.

monica.debtfree:

Although I love T&T and always thought of it as Caribbean paradise, I must say with much regret that in last five years (in particular) T&T is no longer a place one can call home with dignity, pride and confidence.

It hurts very much to say that when I love my T&T so much, however, unfortunately in the current situation it is clear that the Government has taken over the judicial system, and one can see from other countries when the government inferferes with the judicial process there is nothing but chaos, fraud, crime, and dictatorship. There is no judicial system, as I see it.

Victor Abdul-Mateen:

Yes, I have confidence in the judicial system of T&T.

As a  country we are maturing. Countries that we look at as developed went through worse periods of turmoil than we are presently experiencing. I am  confident that the end result of all this would be a much more mature and stable government.  When we look at the human being in its infancywe see what is referred to as growing pains, when the new life encounters pain as it passes into various stages of growth. A baby getting teeth experiences pain; what we are experiencing in T&T is a country getting political and judicial teeth, which comes with pain.

ksiewdi:

No.

jaglal:

No.
