Five-time Grammy award winner Yolanda Adams will distribute $1,000 school supply vouchers to ten families, consisting of single mothers, during her concert this evening at Queen’s Park Oval in Port-of-Spain.

Speaking during a reception on her arrival in Trinidad yesterday, Adams, a twice-divorced, single mother, said:

“I am a single mother, and I know what mothers go through trying to bring up their children in the fear of the Lord.

“But I want to ensure all the single mothers that that God is good, and He would give you the strength to endure.”

During the concert’s promotion in T&T, the public was asked to nominate less fortunate families headed by single parent mothers for ten VIP tickets to the concert and school book vouchers worth $1,000.

The event, billed as The Awakening—A Salute to Gospel, is scheduled to start at 5 pm and patrons are to wear white.

Adams is expected to perform for two straight hours.

This is Adams’ second trip to T&T She performed at the Centre of Excellence in 2001.

Happy to be back in T&T, Adams said she was pleased that God chose her to minister to the people of this country.

“God has sent me here again to minister to the broken-hearted.

“Trinidad is not going to be the same again. Lives are going be restored.”
