The National Carnival Development Foundation (NCDF) is calling on Culture Minister Joan Yuille-Williams to intervene in ensuring mas men are paid their 2007 prize monies.

In a press release issued by Secretary Peter Reynald, the organisation declared there was a disparity in dealing with the interest groups in that “pan men and calypsonians have been paid months now.

“Not one word has been forthcoming from the chairman of the NCC, the CEO of the NCC, an the so-called commissioner for mas, Mr Felix Celestine, is complacent as usual.

“The NCDF is calling on Minister Joan Yuille-Williams to address the embarrassing situation. The NCDF plans to take their affected members to the ministry in due course.”

The release stated that the foundation had written Yuille-Williams asking for Celestine to be replaced by Ulric Miller.

“Felix Celestine has done all within his ambit to frustrate bandleaders during the parade of the bands 2006/07.

“The NCDF has cited abuse of authority as a contributory factor that resulted in only three of the major Carnival bands arriving at the major competitions in 2007. The NCDF strongly believes he must go,” added the release.
