Keiron, Karim, Kern and Jonathon, the four qualifiers from south.

The search is on for the country’s most skillfull footballer. Last week, The Red Bull Reaccion series, which seeks to unearth the country’s skill footballers, started in San Fernando and Tobago.

The series gives “ballers” a platform to perform and battle for the bragging rights as the best free-style footballer in T&T.

The rules are quite simple as within the Reacción area, two players challenge each other with freestyle tricks to determine who has the best moves.

Each player has 30 seconds to show his skills, then must pass the ball to the opponent. If after three minutes no clear winner emerges, the battle continues until one player makes a major mistake and cannot “react”.

Players are judged on style, control and creativity.

At the end of the prequalifiers, the best 16 players will qualify for the local finals at Mobs 2, Chaguaramas on September 1.

The national winner will then go on to represent T&T at the Reacción Final in Buenos Aires, Argentina in November, where, they will compete against the top qualifiers from the 16 other participating countries namely Mexico, Guatemala, Ecuador, Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panama, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Columbia, Venezuela, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Brazil and Argentina.

Prequalifiers continue today at Adam Smith Square, corner of Carlos St. and Ariapita Ave, Woodbrook, from 8pm – 12 midnight.
