It will be some time before patrons who attended a concert titled
A Christmas To Remember, held at the Bon Air High School Arouca,
on December 1, forget the joy that students brought them.
Singers, dancers, instrumentalists and models from Bon Air High
and Five Rivers Secondary schools formed the cast for the dynamic
programme.
Judging from the quality offerings, tutors at the two education
centres have successfully struck a careful balance between the academic
syllabus and the arts.
At the end of the night, the audience benefited from quality entertainment
all night long and saluted the musical excellence of the students
with lusty applause.
A Christmas to Remember was an appropriate theme for the presentation.
Calypso, gospel, themes from Disney movies, as well as traditional
Christmas music filled the hall, but it was the heart of the young
musicians that made the event special.
Bon Air High School showcased its choir, dance group and steel orchestra.
Five Rivers Secondary, which contributed similar talents to the
production, added an arts display.
While each school was eager to display its artistic prowess, things
got even better when they merged.
The combined steel orchestras offered selections such as Pan Praise,
arranged by Victor Mc Gill, and Soul On Fire, worked on by Odelle
Daniel. Later came the Christmas medley.
Fresh from its high-profile performance with the T&T Philharmonic
at Queens Hall mere weeks ago, the Symphonic Band arrived
at the venue to thrill music aficionados.
Its repertoire included items such as Have Yourself A Merry Little
Christmas, theme from the Mission Impossible, Feliz Navidad and
Home Made Wine, to culminate a splendid musical event.
