SUSPENDED Chief Justice Satnarine Sharma is hopeful the report of the tribunal which investigated him will be made known this week.

The report is reportedly expected to be flown in to President George Maxwell Richards sometime this week.

In a brief interview yesterday, Sharma said he was anxious to receive the findings of the report, which would determine whether the question of removal from office would be referred to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council as prescribed by Section 137 of the Constitution or not.

A report was promised “shortly” according to a statement from the tribunal’s secretariat on November 30 and now sources said this would be “very soon.”

On Friday, Reginald Armour, SC, said while he had not been informed of a date of delivery, he, too, said he expected it soon.

The tribunal, which comprised former Privy Councillors Lord Michael Mustill, St Lucian Sir Vincent Floissac QC and Jamaican Dennis Morrison QC, concluded its public hearings on September 27.

Sharma, 64, who has been suspended from office since July, is due to retire on January 24, 2008.
