Hilton fetes media awardees

During last Sunday’s Annual Media Party hosted by the Hilton Trinidad & Conference Centre, awards were presented to several media practitioners for their dedication and commitment to fulfilling information needs.

The awards were sponsored through the hotel’s Kindness in Donation and Service programme (Kids).

Kids is Hilton Caribbean’s way of helping non-profit organisations devoted to children on the islands where Hilton hotels and resorts are located.

Included among the award recipients were the Guardian’s Michelle Loubon, Leah Sorias, and Rishi Ragoonath. Loubon’s award was in the category Health & Environment reporting; Ragoonath for sports photography; Sorias on the other hand was presented a $5,000 scholarship dedicated to Rosa Parks.

Prior to the presentation of awards, members of the media dined on food from four buffet stations with live cooking, similar to what was on the menu for the hotel’s corporate party. The difference was in how the dishes were named.

For example, there was the Anthony Wilson home-made goose terrine with sauterne jelly; Peter Ray Blood red caviar on smoked tuna filets roses on blinis; and the Andre Alexander gazpacho southwest style with Vidalo onions.
