Patrons at popular Club Zen show their enthusiasm by waving.

By Camille Clarke

The Peter C Lewis Orchestra entertained patrons last Wednesday night at Club Zen’s Rah Night.

A nice crowd gathered to listen to the latest soca renditions by the group.

The club’s spacious and fogged atmosphere was an interesting choice of location for the orchestra. The action-packed night started at 12.30 am, and Lewis’ orchestra performed his hits Over and Over, Tay Lay Lay and Punta.

Later in the night, Lewis confessed that there was something he always dreamed of doing, and he rendered the late Bob Marley’s Redemption Song.

His clear voice crooning the haunting melody changed the soca tempo.

Justin Cross’ appearance onstage further changed the rhythm.

The 2007 Digicel Rising Stars heartthrob and first runner-up was greeted warmly by the crowd and patrons embraced the laid-back old-school mood of his new song—Woman is Sweet.

Cross, who also sang She’s Royal, Too Late To Apologise, and Love and Affection, has been freelancing with the orchestra prior to C2K8. This performer seems set to be the next shooting soca star.

The surprise of the night came in the form of 2006 Synergy Soca Stars winner Umi Marcano, who launched his new CD at the event.

Time To Play, a catchy tune, moved patrons as many of them attempted to mimic his wining moves.

Marcano also sang Turn It Around, Flavour and Move That Body. With a waist like an elastic band, Marcano was enthusiastically appreciated by the women in the house.

Terry Seales, Problem Child, Ricki T, Benjai, and Farmer Nappy also entertained the Zen crowd and were well-received.
