Do you agree that violence is linked to licks?

Robinpersad2

It depends on the definition of the word “licks.” If its the “licks” I got from my parents when I did wrong, then the answer is no, since the “licks” was tempered with the severity of my wrongdoing and was only used to serve as a deterrent from repeating the behaviour that caused my parents to discipline me in the first place. However if the licks one receives from one’s parents is violent and excessive on a regular basis in order to, as we say, “take out” their anger and frustration on their kids, then the answer is yes.

Therefore “licks” should be used sparingly and for the right reasons. I strongly don’t believe that you should spare the rod and spoil the child. Similarly, I strongly don’t believe that beating a child excessively and in temper on a regular basis should be tolerated by anyone in society either.
