RETIRED St Lucian international, Elijah ‘Blade’ Joseph and former T&T youth cricketer and a member of last year’s national senior team which was beaten in the Standford 20/20 final by Guyana, Nicholas Ramjass emerged the top performers of the 2007 Vibe CT 105 W Connection club.

Joseph was named the football “Most Valuable Player” while the honour was bestowed upon Ramjass for his performance for the cricket team at the club’s end-of-season awards ceremony which was held at Centre Auditorium & Conference Centre, Centre Point Mall, Plaza Square, Chaguanas on Saturday night.

The 33-year-old Joseph, a 10-year veteran of the top flight league in T&T and the only player to play for one club during that period played an instrumental role in helping the ‘Savonetta Boys’ as the David John-Williams club is called capture three of the four titles at stake during the 2007 campaign in the league.

W Connection, no stranger to winning major titles in the T&T Pro League having won a staggering 22 titles since moving from a ‘fete match’ team to a professional unit won the 2007 edition of the Courts Pro Bowl, First Citizens Cup and the end-of-season Lucozade Sport ‘Big Six’ competition while they placed third in the league, seven points adrift of champions CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh and were quarterfinalist in the Toyota Classic.

In all W Connection enjoyed yet another fruitful season on the field winning seven of 11 titles in both the Senior and Youth Divisions combines.

Joseph also walked away with the “Best Defender” award while fellow St Lucian, Earl Jean collected the President’s award.

A T&T Cricket Board of Control National League ‘Top Five Player of the Year’ last season, Ramjass was the second highest runs accumulator in the Carib National League Division One, while being the highest runs scorer for his club.

Commenting on the success of Ramjass, club coach Gerard Garcia said, “Ramjass deserves every credit he has gotten. He’s a well discipline and very dedicated player.”

The Wanderers coach also credited Ramjass for his consistency which he said played a key role in the clubs’ achievements during the 2007 season.
