CASTRIESWindward
Islands team manager, Lockhart Sebastien has lamented the
absence of a regional cricket selector at the fourth round
Carib Beer Series match between the Windwards and Combined
Colleges and Campuses at the Beausejour Cricket Ground last
weekend.
Devon
Smith batted very well. Its just a pity that none
of the West Indies selectors were there, Sebastien
stressed.
I
understand the coach of the West Indies team was in Montserrat
but nobody was watching our game.
I
always wonder why we in the Windward Islands always suffer
like that where some of the bigger people feel we are nobody.
We have three West Indies players in our squad and we had
no West Indies selector here.
Smith, under fire following a wretched tour of South Africa
tour recently, rebounded with a brilliant 159 which helped
Windwards to an overwhelming 10-wicket victory.
Commenting on their convincing victory over the CCC, Sebastien
said the team met the objective set at the start of the
round.
We
were looking for points. Weve gotten 12 points inside
three days so we are happy. This result will allow us to
get some rest before heading to Dominica for our next game,
he told CMC Sports.
He said the victory will enhance the teams confidence
for the remainder of the competition having lost their two
previous opening games.
If
we can beat Trinidad in Dominica we can look to get one
of the two slots and go into the final. Our aim is to take
it one game at a time, he continued.
Sebastien congratulated his team for a fine all-round performance
and praised the consistency of the bowlers.
Over
the years our bowling has been our strength. This match
was no exception. I think all the bowlers bowled very, very
well, Sebastien concluded.
