A cyclist is listed in stable condition at San Fernando General Hospital, after an accident at the San Fernando Bye Pass on Saturday night.

Investigators said that around 9.35 pm, Anderson Guiseppi, of Duncan Village, San Fernando, was driving his white B-13 Sentra north along the San Fernando Bypass when, upon reaching the vicinity of Tarouba traffic lights, he struck cyclist Jeffrey Wharwood, throwing him off his bike.

Police said Wharwood was riding his bicycle from west to east when he came into contact with the car.

Officers of the Mon Repos Police Station were contacted and Wharwood was taken to the hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery.

He suffered a broken leg and abrasions about his body.

PC Barron is continuing investigations.
