ANGELS
on fire AGAINST CRIME and VIOLENCE
-
Thousands of Caribbean youth to march against crime
and violence.
-
Youth are being ravaged by the evils of drugs, gangs and
sexually related diseases.
-
Let us encourage our youth to be angels on fire making
a difference in the commu-nity.
And
I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the
everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the
earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and
people, saying with a loud voice, fear God, and give glory
to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship
him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains
of waters.
Revelation
14:6, 7.
Thousands of youth, their relatives and leaders from the
Caricom region will be descending upon the edenic and scenic
island of Antigua, marching against crime and violence,
repairing and painting homes, proclaiming the everlasting
gospel, and visiting institutions such as the hospital and
rehabilitation centres. This is the Angels On Fire Pathfinder
Camporee.
They will be engaged in a massive clean-up campaign, launching
community adoption minis- tries, feeding the hungry (Meals
On Wheels), and proclaiming the everlasting gospel.
This is the Angels On Fire Pathfinder Camporee.
Imagine 3,000 youth from 25 countries as far south as Suriname,
stretching to the US Virgin Islands in the north camping
in 1,200 tents. Every day bugles and trumpets will be blasting,
youth choirs will be singing, Pathfinders will display their
athletic skills, demonstrating their creativity through
drama. This is the Angels On Fire Pathfinder Camporee.
This is a mega, youth rescue mission. The Pathfinder Club
is an internationally acclaimed integrated, youth development
organisation. It caters for youth in the age range, 11-
15 and is designed to develop the head, the heart and the
hand.
Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer will declare the camporee
officially open on Thursday at 3 pm. The feature address
will be delivered by Dr Eugene Daniel, president of the
Caribbean Union Conference. He will motivate the youth to
make the right choices and to stand tall though the heavens
fall.
The preparation for this dynamic and historic event began
in March 2007 and youth were challenged to be a part of
the solution instead of being part of the problem. They
were inspired to care for the elderly, minister to the sick
and dying, and to exert a positive influence on their peers.
Imagine 3,000 youth from different cultures sleeping in
Paynters Village on a field located south-east of
the Sir Vivian Richards Recreation Ground. Imagine the chemistry
and the synergy. This is the Angels On Fire Pathfinder Camporee.
Imagine 3,000 youth praying simultaneously for God to assist
them to assist others. There will be lectures on issues
affecting youth including How to manage peer pressure,
The teenage crisis and tithe Aids pandemic,
Leadership in a changing world, and Becoming
a hero.
Tomorrow, Antigua will be a beehive of activity as the Path-finders
are transformed into a united army moving through the villages
proclaiming that there is hope in the name of Jesus Christ.
There is a spectacular war taking place on this planet as
the dragon, understanding that he has but a short time,
is engaging in his most ruthless attack upon youth, parents
and the church. Anytime the mission is about to rock the
kingdom of darkness, the roaring lion seeks to devour the
plan and the designers of the plan.
But by now we should know the enemys strategy and
the amount of time he has to implement this plan. And he
knows that we know that no weapon formed against us
shall prosper. Those weapons cannot prosper because
omnipotence is available to us and we have a vast array
of spiritual weapons.
Leaders of youth must also be angels on fire, but this is
only possible through the power of the gospel. When we become
angels on fire, we will move into the dens of crime, violence,
gangs, prostitution and share the love of Jesus.
Four youth from Antigua will be given scholarships to begin
their tertiary-level education. These will be youth who
are living in depressing and distressing conditions, but
have shown keen interest in pursuing excellence and conquering
the mountains that confront them. Their desire to move from
the ordinary to the extraordinary will be applauded and
rewarded.
A major highlight will be the march against crime. The campers
plus youth from every religion will be marching through
the streets of St Johns with their placards, chanting
and distributing literature on how to overcome drugs and
adopt a positive lifestyle.
Seven thousand youth will be declaring war on the kingdom
of darkness and encouraging their peers to be drug-free
and to leave the gangs. They will be chanting the following
slogans:
1,
2, 3, 4 pushers coming,
shut the door,
5, 6, 7, 8 loving Jesus is just great.
No
hope in dope, no hope in dope,
No hope in dope, neither rum nor coke.
Up
with Christ the Saviour Down with coke and ganja.
Antigua,
you must say no, Tell the pushers they must go.
Pusher,
pusher, on the wall; pusher, pusher bound to fall.
Youth are being ravaged by the evils of drugs, gangs and
sexually related diseases. Governments in the region seem
powerless to stem the tide of violence and no one appears
to be safe, including babies in their parents arms
and wounded gangsters in hospital beds.
Now is the time to arise and shine! Let us encourage our
youth to be angels on fire making a difference in the community.
