Well known local photographer Jeffrey Chock recently fell ill in Canada and has incurred major medical expenses. Some of Jeffrey’s friends and admirers of his work, got together to form the “Friends of Jeffrey Chock” group with the main aim of raising funds to offset some of his medical expenses.

Artists, photographers and entertainers have all come together to contribute to this worthy cause and a series of fund raising events have been planned.

This evening 3Canal will be hosting its annual Republic Day Show—ReThePublic—at Queen’s Hall, St Ann’s, and part proceeds from this will be donated to the fund.

From tomorrow to Friday, spearheaded by photographer Abigal Hadeed, there will be an exhibition and sale of photographs at the Soft Box Studio, 9 Alcazar Street, St Clair.

A treat for collectors, the show is also a rare opportunity to see the work of so many great photographers in one space.

Tomorrow’s event opens at 6 pm, with ensuing gallery hours between 10am - 4pm

From Saturday to October 1, spearheaded by artist Ashraph, there will be an art exhibition and sale at Y Gallery, 26 Taylor Street, Woodbrook.

On sale will be paintings, sculpture, drawings, etchings, by Lisa O’Connor, LeRoy Clarke, Peter Minshall, Eddie Bowen, Chris Cozier, Wendy Nanaan, Rachel Superville, Martin Superville, Jackie Hinkson, Sundiata, Greer Jones Woodham, Karen DeVerteuil, Turu, Suzan Nunez,  Tessa Alexander, Gabby Tommy, Adele Todd, Alchemy, Jeneille McCarthy Sinnaan, Dean Arlen, Stuart Hahn, Paul Kain, Avalino Ken Reyes, Nicholai Noel, Ashraph, Peter Sheppard, Shalini Seereeram, Shastri Maharaj, Che Lovelace, Embah, Susie Dayal and Derek Walcott.

Gallery hours are between 10am-4pm. The September 27 premiere runs at 10am - 2.30pm.

The owners of the Euphoria Lounge on Dundonald Street, Port-of-Spain, have kindly offered their venue for an evening of entertainment on September 27 as well; the lineup of artists will be announced soon.
