SDATT elects first female president
The Securities Dealers Association of T&T (SDATT), has elected its first female president, Trudie Telesford Pierre, whose term of office covers the period 2017 to 2019.
She heads a new board of directors comprising of Stephen Thomas, Vice President & Chairman of the Regulatory Committee; Robert Balgobin, Treasurer; Dalia King, Secretary and Chairperson of the Public Relations Committee; Sarodh Ramkhelawan, Chairman of the Capital Markets Committee; Gregory Hill, Kriss Marcus, Andrew Chang, Faresha Majid, Carla Kelshall, Alan Sheppard, Adrian Manmohan and Osmond Prevatt.
Telesford Pierre expressed her sincere gratitude to outgoing president George Sheppard who she said took SDATT further along the path of achieving its continued objectives:
° Address legislative or other measures affecting the securities industry
° Advance the local capital markets in keeping with international standards
° Improve and advise on securities and other instruments offered to the market
° Enhance ethical and professional standards within the securities industry
° Establish SDATT as a self-regulatory organisation
In a release, the board stated that its mandate is to make SDATT the portal through which local security businesses are represented, as well as to “give voice to the developmental aims of its membership and in so doing, aid in the first tier and ethical evolution of our country’s Capital Market through legislation, collaboration with stakeholders, attaining self-regulatory organization status, membership training, compliance and public education.”
