One of two men charged with having sexual intercourse with a minor asked for own bail on Friday, as he complained that the girl told him she was 17-years-old. However, Deputy Chief Magistrate Mark Wellington promptly rejected the request of 21-year-old Sheldon Walker who is facing three charges of raping a 15-year-old girl. Also appearing on a separate charge of raping a 12-year-old girl was 31-year-old Quinton Williams.

Both men were granted bail totally $125,000 and warned to stay away from the victims when they appeared before Wellington in the San Fernando First Court. Walker, who did not have an attorney, is accused of having sexual intercourse with the girl who had attained the age of 14, but not yet 16 and who was not his wife. The rapes allegedly took place at the accused Fyzabad home between June 16 and July 5; June 13 and June 16.

Police prosecutor Cleyon Seedan said a trace revealed that the accused had no previous convictions or pending matters. Pleading for bail, Walker said, “Your honour she tell me she was 17 at the time.” Wellington said he was not concerned about that, adding, “Sir, you want to spoil my day. Three charges of sexual intercourse with a minor and you asking for own bail.”
